Apr 30, 2017- The meeting of the Legislature Parliament has been postponed until May 4. The agenda for tabling constitution amendment bill has been cancelled and House meet put off for five days. The Sunday's meeting adjourned after endorsing a condolence motion in honour of former lawmaker Nathuni Singh Danuwar. It is learnt that today's House meeting was deferred as as the government lacks majority votes to pass the amendment bill from the Parliament. The ruling parties agreed to defer the meeting so the government could look for broader consensus to endorse the bill. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, after the House meet, said that the constitution amendment process will continute only after filing the nomination of candidates for the first phase of the local polls. "As per the recent developments, the situation has become so that we have to proirtise filing of the nominations for the May 14 elections to make it a success," said PM Dahal, "The parliament has been postponed for May 4 so that a conducive environment can be formed to register candidacies for elections." PM Dahal further expressed his belief that the Madhesi Morcha will also take part in election. A total of 50 proposals have been registered in the amendment bill, including one each from the ruling parties and the Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal (SSFN) and 48 from other parties. SSFN registered a proposal after failing to agree on the single proposal due to differences over proposal of the ruling parties and the Rastriya Janta Party-Nepal. The ruling Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the RJP-N, and the SSFN held a five hour-long meeting to table a single amendment. But the ruling parties and the RJP-N submitted one proposal seeking revision in five provisions, while the SSFN submitted another proposal seeking revisions in same provisions.
